Pitt will create first known orthopedics-based biobank in the Western Hemisphere after $18.5 million gift

An $18.5 million donation to the University of Pittsburgh will allow the school to create what is believed to be the first orthopedics-based biobank in the Western Hemisphere.

Orland Bethel, founder of Greensburg-based egg giant Hillandale Farms, is making the donation after gifting $25 million to the university last year.
